All our needs can only be met and truly satisfied in Christ - family, career, church service, friendship ...

“Christ is all and in all”: From the perspective of Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan woman

Scriptures: John 4:1-24

A. “Christ is all” – Christ is our satisfaction

“Jesus answered and said to her, ‘Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but

whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall

give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.’”(John

4:13-14)

“… Jesus stood and cried out, saying, ‘If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.  He

who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’

But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive;” (John

7:37-39a)

Jesus is the fountain of living water. In the Holy Spirit the resurrected Christ has become the

rivers of living water:

a. In the depth of ones’ spirit, for the satisfaction of life

b. Surpasses time and  space, flows unto everlasting

c. Depends on man’s choosing – our response to Jesus

B. “Christ is in all” – Christ ushered in true worship that transcends time and space

a. Christ not only reconciled sinners to God, but that they can rejoice in God

“And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through

whom we have now received the reconciliation.” (Rom 5:11)

b. True worship will bring about a genuine satisfaction of the heart

“In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Ps

16:11)

All our needs can only be met and truly satisfied in Christ - family, career, church service, friendship ...

c. True worship does not depend on time and space, but a matter of spirit and truth

Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this

mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. … But the hour is coming, and now is,

when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is

seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in

spirit and truth.” (John 4:21-24)
