Pass On the Spiritual Inheritance (7) - "The Word of Life" and "The Spirit of Life"

Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” (John 4:13-14)

1. 傳承的美好榜樣 — 以撒重新挖井

Good example of passing on the inheritance – Isaac dug another well

a. 仇敵不甘心我們承受祝福

The enemy does not want us to receive blessings

—「當他父親亞伯拉罕在世的日子，他父親的僕人所挖的井，非利士人『全都』塞住，『填滿』了土。」（創26:15）

- Now the Philistines had stopped up “all” the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of Abraham his father, and they had “filled” them with earth. (Genesis 26:15)

b. 以撒看重並定意恢復祝福

Isaac took blessings seriously and was determined to restore them

-「…以撒就重新挖出來，仍照他父親所叫的叫那些井的名字。以撒的僕人在谷中挖井，便得了一口活水井。」（v18b-19）

- He called them by the names which his father had called them. Also Isaac’s servants dug in the valley, and found a well of running water there. (Genesis 26:18b-19)

2. 『主的話』與『主的靈』在聖經中的重要角色

The important roles of "The Word of the Lord" and "The Spirit of the Lord" in the Bible

(a) 在神『創造、新造與建造』的工作中（創1:1-3；徒二；弗2:19-22,…）

In God’s work of "creation, new creation, and construction" (Genesis 1:1-3; Acts 2; Ephesians 2:19-22,...)

(b) 在神恢復的行動中（結 1:3，37:4-5，9,…）

In God's act of restoration (Ezekiel 1:3, 37:4-5, 9,…)

In God’s promises and blessings (John 14:16-17, 26, 16:13,…)

3. 『主的話』與『主的靈』在屬靈傳承中不容忽視且牢不可分

"The Word of the Lord" and "The Spirit of the Lord" are neither negligible nor separable while passing on the spiritual inheritance

— 雖然仇敵一再要來蒙蔽與破壞

- Even though the enemy tries to deceive and destroy again and again

a. 不容忽視：「你們查考聖經，因你們以為內中有永生；給我作見證的就是這經。然而，你們不肯到我這裏來得生命。」（約5:39-40)

Non-negligible: “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life” (John 5:39-40)

b. 牢不可分：「…我對你們所說的話就是靈，就是生命」（約6:63）/「真理的聖靈」（約14:17, 15:26,…）/弗6:17b, …

Non-separable: “The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63) / “The Spirit of truth “ (John 14:17, 15:26,…) / Ephesians 6:17b

· 節期的末日，就是最大之日，耶穌站著高聲說：「人若渴了，可以到我這裏來喝。信我的人就如經上所說：『從他腹中要流出活水的江河來。』耶穌這話是指著信他之人要受聖靈說的。」（約7:37-39a）

On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive. (John 7:37-39a)
