Love Unto All Saints (6) Bearing With and Forgiving One Another -- Make Me a Channel of Your Peace

                      10/18/09

Memory Verse: "Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do." (Colossians 3:13)

經文:Scriptures:

Outline:

I. The Lord is our model and the source of our life

John 13:34  A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

Romans 15:7 Therefore receive one another, just as Christ also received us, to the glory of God.

Ephesians 4:32  And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

II. Bearing with one another

(1) Accept one another in the love of the Lord -- Bearing is not about indulgence; it is to hate sin but love sinners

Ephesians 4:2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,

Ephesians 4:3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

(2) Edify one another in the Body – Under construction; imperfect but precious

1 Corinthians 12:23 And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty

1 Corinthians 12:27 Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.

III. Forgiving one another

(1) Forgive and you will be forgiven -- To be freed from the bondage of the heart

6:14       你們饒恕人的過犯,你們的天父也必饒恕你們的過犯;

Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

Matthew 6:15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses

Luke 6:37 Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

(2) The forgiveness of the forgiven -- The comparison between ten thousand talents and a hundred denarii

Matthew 18:21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”

Matthew 18:22  Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

Matthew 18:33 Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’

Matthew 18:35 “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”

Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace

1. Make me a channel of your peace, Where there is hatred let me bring you love; Where there is injury, pardon Lord; And where there is doubt, true faith in You.

2. Make me a channel of your peace, Where there’s despair in life let me bring hope, Where there is darkness, only light; And where there’s sadness only joy.

3. Make me a channel of your peace, It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, It is in giving to all men that we receive, And in dying that we are born to eternal life.

(Refrain) O Master grant that I may never seek, So much to be consoled as to console, To be understood as to understand, To be loved as to love with all my soul.
